YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra: In a turn of events that left fans and the cyber world reeling, celebrated travel vlogger Jyoti Malhotra, whose YouTube channel Travel With Jo has been very popular, was arrested by Hisar Police on serious charges of spying and connections with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Jyoti Malhotra is a popular digital influencer and travel vlogger from Hisar, Haryana. She owns the highly viewed YouTube channel Travel With Jo with more than 380,000 subscribers. Her channel primarily consists of solo travel vlogs, destination guides, and cultural experiences from destinations such as Indonesia (Bali), Dubai, and even Pakistan. Her friendly nature and adventurous lifestyle assisted her in gaining a huge fan following, especially from younger Indian travel buffs.
Nevertheless, her recent arrest raised serious concerns regarding the real motive behind her foreign travels, especially those to Pakistan and her dealings with foreign nationals.
Based on an FIR filed by Sub-Inspector Sanjay of Hisar Police, Jyoti Malhotra is accused of spying on behalf of Pakistan and aiding ISI agents. The FIR states that she had gone to Pakistan on two occasions in 2023, where she had a meeting with Ehsan Ur Rehman Danish, who is suspected to be a Pakistani ISI agent.
Researchers assert that Jyoti employed her travel blogging persona to veil her true purpose — establishing rapport with enemy operatives and gathering sensitive data. The police also believe that she employed end-to-end encrypted messaging apps to converse discreetly with Pakistani handlers.
While traveling, Jyoti is suspected to have associated with several Pakistani agents, including ISI agents. The investigation finds that not only did she visit Pakistan, but she also met Pakistani agents in Bali, Indonesia in 2023. Authorities suspect she operated as “Jatt Randhawa” while handling these agents.
The police believe she was involved in a larger network of spies operating in strategically important areas such as Haryana and Punjab, both of which are vital to India’s defense and intelligence establishment. Her matter is now under the surveillance of upper national security agencies.
The case, which has been filed on several counts of national security charges, has left even the law enforcement agencies stunned. Sub-Inspector Sanjay quoted that Jyoti was sent to five days’ custody of police for further interrogation. The police are now studying her phone records, cryptic chat records, bank transactions, and global travel patterns.
A top officer said, “This is perhaps one of the largest espionage cases in recent years with a social media influencer. How much information she might have shared with Pakistan is still being probed.”
When the news went public, fans of Travel With Jo were in a state of disbelief and alarm. Several demanded YouTube suspend her channel, while others called upon authorities to investigate further influencer activities involving foreign trips.
Up to now, YouTube has yet to come forward with a formal announcement about Jyoti Malhotra’s channel status. Moreover, if charges hold up, the legal system might pursue further action to bar her account permanently and delete any material that could be associated with intelligence operations.
