After the massive success of Kesari (2019), Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh is all set to hit theaters on April 18, 2025. This time, the spotlight shifts from the battlefield to the courtroom — where one man’s courage challenged the British Empire.
Kesari Chapter 2 dives deep into the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919, one of the darkest chapters in India’s history. The film follows C. Sankaran Nair, a fearless lawyer who took on the British Crown in court to expose the truth behind the massacre.

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, and written in collaboration with Amritpal Singh Bindra, the film is rooted in authentic historical records.
Shooting began in mid-2023, with sets recreated in Mumbai, Delhi, IIT Roorkee, and Alibag. The iconic Jallianwala Bagh was meticulously rebuilt to maintain historical accuracy.
Filming wrapped up by September 2024, and the movie has been in post-production since then.
According to Akshay Kumar, this film isn’t just a courtroom drama — it’s a mission. He emphasized that many of our history books are told from the British perspective, and Kesari Chapter 2 aims to present the real Indian side of the story.
It’s not just entertainment; it’s a reminder of how the truth was fought for, even in courtrooms under colonial rule.
