WPL 2025: Delhi Capitals’ Batting Woes Continue as RCB Secures Second Win

In a commanding display during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals. The match, held at Vadodara’s Kotambi Stadium, witnessed RCB’s bowlers, notably Renuka Singh and Georgia Wareham, dismantling the Capitals’ batting lineup, restricting them to a modest 141 runs.

Delhi Capitals commenced their innings on a strong note, amassing 55 runs for the loss of one wicket during the powerplay. However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the seventh over when RCB’s bowlers initiated a collapse, capturing two wickets in the span of five deliveries. Renuka Singh’s impressive figures of 3/23 and Georgia Wareham’s 3/25 were instrumental in curbing the Capitals’ progress.

Chasing 142, RCB’s captain, Smriti Mandhana, led from the front with a scintillating 47-ball 81, showcasing her prowess and guiding the team to a comfortable victory. Her aggressive approach ensured that RCB achieved the target with 22 balls to spare, marking their second consecutive win in the tournament and propelling them to the top of the WPL 2025 standings.
Post-match, Delhi Capitals’ head coach, Jonathan Batty, lamented the lack of substantial partnerships, attributing the team’s downfall to the inability to build cohesive stands. In contrast, RCB’s all-rounder, Georgia Wareham, praised Renuka Singh’s exceptional bowling performance, describing it as “amazing” and pivotal to their success.
Delhi Capitals
As the WPL 2025 unfolds, RCB’s formidable form positions them as strong contenders for the title, while Delhi Capitals will need to reassess their strategies to overcome batting inconsistencies in forthcoming matches.
