Virat Kohli told the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he wants to retire from Test cricket. According to the report of Times of India, the top officials of the Board asked him to think again about this decision.Board officials even told Times of India that Kohli has made up his mind and wants to retire from Test cricket. But BCCI is asking him to give full consideration because it is very important for Virat to play in England tour but Kohli has not given any answer on this yet.

This decision of Virat to retire has come after the retirement of Rohit Sharma. India’s selection team is going to meet in a few days to select the team for the five-match test series to be held in England next month.According to a report in Times of India, Kohli has been considering his Test future since the beginning of the year in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. After scoring a century in the first Test on the tour, Kohli has batted very poorly in the remaining matches, which may also be the reason for a budding retirement.

Having made 100 runs in the second innings of the first Perth Test, Kohli scored only 90 runs in seven innings of the remaining four Tests. In the Australia tour, Kohli scored 190 runs in nine innings of five Tests with a mean of 23.75. Kohli’s performance prior to this was not good during New Zealand’s India tour. In three Tests’ six innings against the Kiwis, he scored 93 runs at a strike rate of 15.50.

36 year old Kohli's performance in test
Kohli, 36, has appeared in 123 Tests for India and made 9,230 runs at 46.85. His average decreased in the last five years. In those years, he made 1,990 runs with the support of three hundreds in 37 Tests.Kohli was bowled seven times out of eight during the Australian tour by manipulating the ball away from the off stump. Kohli also explained in an RCB podcast recently that now he may not be able to tour Australia.
No Senior for Guidance
