BCCI Fast Bowlers Camp: As India continues to dominate world cricket, the need for a strong and injury-free fast-bowling unit has become more critical than ever. In response to growing injury concerns and workload challenges among key pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a bold step towards the future.
The Problem: Injury Woes & Workload Management
The recently concluded India vs England Test series exposed a major concern — repeated injuries to frontline pacers. Jasprit Bumrah missed the fifth Test as part of his ongoing workload management, primarily due to his recurring back issue. On the other hand, Akash Deep was ruled out of the Manchester Test after picking up a groin niggle.

These back-to-back setbacks prompted the BCCI and Team India management to urgently rethink their fast-bowling strategy, especially ahead of a packed international calendar that includes:
2025–2027 ICC World Test Championship cycle
2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
The Solution: BCCI’s Fast-Bowling Development Camp
To address this challenge, the BCCI has launched a specialized fast-bowling training camp at its National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, under the supervision of former South African pacer and bowling coach Morne Morkel.
The camp, announced on July 30, 2025, is designed to last three weeks and focuses on grooming a handpicked group of emerging Indian pacers, as shortlisted by the Ajit Agarkar-led Senior Selection Committee.
Who’s Attending BCCI Fast Bowlers Camp?
Here’s the list of promising fast bowlers attending the camp: Khaleel Ahmed, Tushar Deshpande, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Yash Thakur, Rajvardhan Hangargekar (Raj Baba), Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj
These players have been selected based on their strong domestic performances and consistent fitness. Notably, Anshul Kamboj recently made his Test debut against England and is seen as a potential long-term asset for Team India.
Training Focus Areas
The camp isn’t just about bowling fast — it’s a full-fledged performance-enhancement program. Key areas include:
Injury prevention and rehabilitation protocols, Bowling workload tracking using advanced biomechanics, Fitness and core strength training, Mental toughness and match simulation drills, Technical refinement under expert guidance

Why This Move Matters
This initiative is not just about filling in for injured bowlers — it’s a long-term investment in Indian cricket. With Bumrah and Mohammed Shami not getting any younger, India needs a well-prepared bench strength that can:
Handle multi-format workloads, Step up in high-pressure ICC events, Sustain performance across overseas and home conditions
