Zomato Rebrands as ‘Eternal’ to Reflect Business Expansion

Feb 6, 2025 – Indian food delivery behemoth Zomato has announced a corporate rebranding, changing its parent company name to Eternal. The move comes as the company diversifies beyond food delivery into a number of business verticals. Currently know as Zomato Food Delivery app will itself be known with the same name and customers will not face any change.

This rebranding mirrors Zomato’s transformation into a modern, multifaceted business. Over the past seven years, it has expanded into quick-commerce, restaurant supply and live events. Now, the business is made up of four different business divisions:
Zomato– Food delivery service (it keeps its name).
Blinkit – A grocery and essentials quick-commerce dais.
Hyperpure – A B2B platform which delivers fresh ingredients to restaurants.
Zomato Live/District – A live events and experiences business.

Founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal stated that the change was driven by Blinkit’s rapid growth, making it a significant driver of the company’s future.
“We thought of publicly renaming the company when something beyond Zomato became a major part of our growth. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we have reached that stage,” Goyal said.

No Changes to the Zomato App

Despite the corporate rebranding, Zomato’s food delivery platform will continue to function under its existing brand name. Goyal clarified that there are no plans to rename the Zomato app or change its user experience.
“There is no plan whatsoever to rebrand the Zomato app to Eternal,” he confirmed.

Industry Context and Market Trends

The move comes as the quick-commerce sector experiences rapid growth in India. Zomato acquired Blinkit in mid-2022, a decision initially met with skepticism from investors. However, the sector has since seen significant expansion, with competitors like Swiggy Instamart, JioMart, Amazon, and Walmart-backed Flipkart intensifying their presence in the market.

Goyal described the new name as a mission statement, representing a long-term vision for the company.
“The word ‘Eternal’ means forever—something that will last beyond just a lifetime. It reflects our ambition to build a company with lasting impact,” he explained.
